HAYS Clyde L. Werk Sr., 62, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at a Havre hospital from complications from diabetes.
Wake/Rosary was held Sunday at the St. Pauls Mission at Hays. Funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Pauls Mission with burial following at St. Pauls Mission Cemetery.
Werk was born Sept. 12, 1936, at Blue Heaven Homestead near Hays, to Robert A. and Isabel M. (Gardipee) Werk. He was raised and educated at Hays and worked on the Phillips, Robinson, Bardanouve and Zander ranches.
On Nov. 17, 1954, he married Gertrude Mann in Chinook. He was employed as the maintenance supervisor at the Hays/Lodgepole Schools for 25 years and retired in 1990.
His hobbies included raising quarter horses and paints and other livestock. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Marie, Ramona, Edith, Woody, Sonny and Toby, grandchildren, Jimmy Lee LaMere, Ray Lynn Werk and Mindy Ann Doney.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude of Hays; daughters, Dawn Morsette, Marlene Werk, and Laura Doney all of Hays; sons, Clyde Werk Jr., Bill Werk and Warren Werk, all of Hays, Frank Werk of Big Warm and Kenny Werk of Rosebud, S.D.; a sister, Lola Hayward of Malta; a brother, Harold Werk of Hays; 30 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
