BIG SANDY Thelma (Miller) Williams, 83, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at a Big Sandy hospital from complications of Alzheimers Disease.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Christ Lutheran Church in Big Sandy with the Rev. Rich Jespersen officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Sandy Cemetery.
Williams was born Aug. 1, 1916, on the family homestead in the Eagle Butte community south of the Missouri River, to Felix Oscar Miller and Edna May Weible. She received her education at the Eagle Butte Country School and Geraldine High School.
In the mid 1930s she married Harry E. Williams at Great Falls. The coupled lived in the Eagle Butte community until 1946, when they bought the Claire Hawkins place 32 miles southeast of Big Sandy. The couple lived and worked the farm. He died in 1979. She remained on the farm active in operations until her health began to fail in 1997. She entered the Big Sandy Nursing Home in January of 1998.
She enjoyed farming, working in her yard, and flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed snowmobile and three-wheeler riding.
Williams was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Richard Miller.
Survivors include sons, Roger, Robert, and Randy Williams of Big Sandy and Raymond Williams of Coram; a sister, Helen Trunk of Eagle Butte near Loma; 10 grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Undesignated memorials will be given to the Big Sandy Medical Center.
