One of the two men charged with murdering two people at a Havre home in September is accused of failing to enter and complete a court-ordered anger control program one month before the slayings.
Jacob Gary Spang, 18, Havre, appeared in 12th Judicial District Court Tuesday with his lawyer, Carl White, to deny the allegation.
Spang was ordered in July to enter the HRDC anger management program by Aug. 15, 1999 after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor family member or partner assault charge. That assault reportedly occurred at a Havre residence on Jan. 12, 1999.
District Court Judge John Warner ordered Spang at that time to complete at least 25 hours of the program as a condition of a six-month deferred imposition of sentence. Spang was credited for 13 days he had already served in Hill County Jail. Spang also was fined $100 and ordered to refrain from alcohol and remain law-abiding.
A hearing on the allegation and a disposition of the case is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Oct. 25.
Spang and Reid Danell, also 18, are accused of deliberate homicide in the shooting deaths of Kristi Walker and Kevin Caplette at a home in the 1200 block of Sixth Street during the early morning hours of Sept. 16.
No arraignment or trial dates have been set.
