The MSU-Northern Skylights travel to Jamestown, N.D., to play in one of its few tournaments of the season Friday.
Eight teams will be present at the Jamestown Classic, including, in Northerns pool, NCAA-Div. III Bethel College in Minnesota, National American University in South Dakota and University of Mary in North Dakota.
University of South Dakota, Jamestown College, South Dakota Tech and Briar Cliff College will also be at the tournament.
The Skylights, 2-3 in the Frontier Conference and 3-9 overall, split with University of Mary earlier this season at Dillon.
Opening the Frontier Conference tournament in September, the Skylights downed Mary 15-11, 15-13, 15-5, however, Mary turned around later in the tournament and downed Northern.
Lyndi Hostetter had 12 kills and a .480 attack percentage in the matchup.
Last weekend at Billings, the Skylights fell to Rocky Mountain College 15-13, 15-9, 15-2 in conference action.
The Skylights tallied 30 kills in the match, led by Adrienne Poplawski with 11.
Gabrielle Chambliss notched 17 assists in the match while senior Melanie Baack had eight digs to lead the Skylights.
Hostetter and freshman Jaley Wacker each tallied two blocks, while Chambliss and Hostetter smoked three aces each.
The Skylights will face Bethel College at 8 p.m. at Jamestown.
The top four finishers will have a playoff in the championship round Saturday.
In the Frontier Conference, due to lack of tournament play, the Skylights have played the fewest matches with 13.
Carroll College has played 19, while teams like Rocky and Western Montana College have played 18 on the season.
