Chester came into the weekend undefeated but did not last the weekend that way.
The Belt Huskies put the notch in the Coyotes record, as they downed Chester 76-68. The last game the Coyotes lost was in the first round of the Class C State Tournament last season.
Belt did the work early as it built a 29-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second, the Huskies stayed with Chester as Belt still led 43-26 at the half.
Chester tried to claw its way back into the game in the third as it outscored Belt 18-10.
Maci Tempel led the way for the Coyotes with 18 points.
Also Thursday night, Big Sandy ran past Blue Sky, 61-26.
The Pioneers took a 14-6 lead after one and never looked back.
By halftime, Big Sandy had a 29-12 lead. It was the same in the second half as the Pioneers downed the Eagles.
Big Sandy was led in scoring by Amy Silvan who had 16 points in the win. Carlye Redding and Lindsey Letang led the Eagles with seven points apiece.
Monday night, Big Sandy ripped through J-I 64-13.
Big Sandys defense was outstanding as it held J-I to three first-quarter points and just two in the second quarter en route to a 24-5 halftime lead.
The Pioneers kept the dominance in the second half and cruised to the win.
Silvan led the Pioneers as she dumped in 11 points. The Rams high scorer was Angela Peek with five points.
On Friday, KG slipped by the Blue Sky Eagles, 47-43.
KG took the early 11-7 lead. The KouGars kept the pressure on in the second quarter and pushed their lead to 26-18 at the half.
The Eagles best quarter was the third, as they outscored KG, 14-9. The KouGars kept the lead and pulled it out in the fourth quarter.
Jen Siefert led the way for KG as she drilled 26 points. Katie Spicher was the top point getter for Blue Sky with 12.
Box Elder downed Rocky Boy 91-62 on Friday night in Class C action.
The Bears led 10-14 after one quarter of play. In the second, both teams scored 18, leaving Box Elder up 32-28. In the third and fourth quarters it was all Bears as they rolled to the win.
Tessie Lamere had 28 points to lead the Bears, while Natasha Stump dumped in 15 for the Morning Stars.
Big Sandy romped through Dodson Saturday night, 81-44.
The Pioneers opened up a 26-5 lead after one and never looked back. By the midway point, the Pioneers led 49-20. Big Sandy rolled through the second half to stay perfect on the season.
The Pioneers were led by Silvan who dumped in 22 points.
The KG KouGars nipped the Box Elder Bears, 41-37 in a key District 9-C match-up.
Box Elder jumped ahead first at the end of one, leading 12-5. KG roared back in the second and took a 20-18 lead at halftime.
The KouGars had a slight scoring edge in the third, while both teams scored 13 points in the fourth to leave KG on top.
Kim Berg and Seifert each had 14 points for the KouGars. The Bears were led in scoring by Josie Rosette who had 12.
The two wins for the KouGars put them in second place in the district, a good place, said head coach Andy Carlson.
Carlson said their one main goal was not to be on the same side of the bracket as Big Sandy. If the KouGars can keep up their intensity, he said, they should be able to stay in that situation.
Carlson was quick to point out that there is a lot of season left, and anything can happen.
The KouGars next weekend involves a lot of road time, as they play at Whitewater and then at Sunburst.
Sunburst got past J-I on Saturday night, 46-38.
The Refiners led 14-5 after one and never looked back. At the half it was Sunburst up, 20-9. Sunburst had the scoring edge in the third, but J-I fought back in the fourth, outscoring the Refiners 23-15, but it was too little, too late.
Angela Peek had a game-high 23 points for the Rams.
Chester got back on the winning track Saturday night as it blew past Valier 71-40.
At the end of one quarter, it was Chester on top, 17-12. It was more of the same in the second quarter as Chester added to its lead and led 31-21 at the half. The Coyotes kept the pressure on in the second half and picked up the win.
Emily Tranberg and Michelle Van Dyke each had 18 points to lead the Coyotes to victory.
