Chinook gridders whitewash Harlem on the road

By Rob Everingham

The Chinook Sugarbeeters traveled the short distance to Harlem on Friday night and slammed the Wildcats, 48-0.

Jimmy Steyee opened up the scoring for Chinook in the first quarter as he had a 20-yard run for the score.

The Beeters next touchdown came from Kyle Butcher as he had a 39-yard run for a touchdown. Still in the first quarter, Mike Maddox found Tyler Oehmcke on a 24-yard pass.

Steyee scored again in the first quarter, as he returned a punt 54 yards for the score. Chinooks final touchdown of the first quarter came on a Teddy Crowley run from eight yards out.

Adam Zinn scored in the second quarter when he rumbled in from a yard away. Chinook led 42-0 at the half.

The Beeters scored once in the fourth, as Mike Mereness had a one-yard run from the line of scrimmage for the score.

Chinook head coach Scott Friede said they were able to get their younger athletes a lot of playing time in this game. Friede said it is nice when you get them into a game and, he said, they played very well.

Both teams competed really hard and it was pretty good game, Friede said.

Next up for the Beeters is a trip to Plentywood on Friday night.
