Two Crimestopper tips led to the arrest Friday of two 19-year-old Havre men who reportedly admitted to breaking into a vehicle in early October.
Shortly after 7 a.m. Oct. 4, a person notified Hill County Sheriffs personnel a large toolbox filled with tools stolen from a vehicle parked at a west Havre business. An air filter and valve covers were missing from the vehicle, too.
The total value of the missing tools and parts is estimated at more than $3,700. Investigation continues.
The crime report appeared in The Havre Daily News police reports on Oct. 5 and in a Crimestoppers news release. After investigating the two Crimestopper calls, deputies interviewed the two suspects, Lawrence Lavern Sasaki and Christopher Donald Hofman.
Sasaki and Hofman admitted the offense to deputies several days ago, according to a sheriffs news release issued this morning. They told deputies that some of the items had been given away and others had been sold.
Deputies reported that Sasaki and Hofman cooperated and told the deputies where the items could be found. The deputies interviewed several other people and recovered the toolbox, tools, air filter and valve covers.
The two men were arrested and jailed on Friday.
Hofman was released on bond and Sasaki remains in the Hill County Justice Center on $5,000 bond.
