Eight people appeared in 12th Judicial District Court recently, three to plead guilty and five to be sentenced.
Kevin Kelly Mahle, 33, Havre, pleaded guilty Oct. 14 to attempted burglary and possession of dangerous drugs. The charges arose from the burglary in February of a pharmacy on West 13th Street and some codeine and Valium that were found at his residence. Six other charges were dropped. The burglary charge carries a sentence of not more than 20 years in prison and a fine of not more than $50,000. The drug charges carries a prison sentence of between 2 and 5 years and a fine of up to $50,000. Both offenses also carry $20 prosecution fees, $10 domestic violence fees, and $5 surcharges. A presentence investigation was ordered, sentencing set for 3 p.m. Nov. 30.
Scott Alan Hurd, 21, Havre, was given a 2-year deferred imposition of sentence and ordered to pay $2,400 restitution.
Hurd pleaded guilty in September to burglary for a burglary to a beer warehouse on Highway 2 West in Havre on June 25 in which 50 to 60 cases of beer were stolen.
Willie Joe Skidmore, 18, Havre, was given a 3-year deferred imposition of sentence for a felony assault charge he pleaded guilty to in September. He must stop drinking and have no contact with felons.
Skidmores charges stemmed from an incident involving a garden rake in the 1100 block of Third Street on July 31, 1999.
Jon Scott Stimson, 35, Havre, pleaded guilty this month to fifth offense on June 27 of driving under the influence of alcohol, a felony. He also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor driving while his license was revoked and speeding. Stimsons prior convictions for DUI were in 1989, 91, 92, and 95, according to court records. He also was sentenced Sept. 2, 1999, in Cascade County for a DUI. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing was scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 9.
Levi T. Olson, Jr., 22, Poplar, was sentenced to four years in custody of the Department of Corrections with a recommendation for placement in the Boot Camp program. Olson must pay $2,200 restitution and abide by conditions agreed to in the presentencing investigation.
Olson pleaded guilty Aug. 26 to the charge of issuing bad checks by common scheme. The checks totaling $2,217.73 on a closed account were passed in Havre between Feb. 4 1994 and March 31, 1994.
Jeremy Lee Borst, 20, Havre, pleaded guilty Oct. 25 to criminal possession of dangerous drugs and was given a 2-year deferred imposition of sentence. He was caught, according to court documents, with morphine on July 4 in Havre.
Thomasine S. Anderson, 24, Rocky Boy, was given an 18-month deferred imposition of sentence and ordered to pay $1,034.29 restitution. Anderson must abide by conditions ordered by South Dakota court and conditions in Hill County presentencing investigation.
Anderson pleaded guilty to a bad check charge for seven checks totaling $940.26 that she cashed in Havre on March 25 and 26, 1996.
Shawn Tyler Gilbreath, 19, Box Elder, was given a 2-year deferred imposition of sentence and ordered to pay $528 restitution and $300 fine plus prosecution fee and surcharges.
Gilbreath pleaded guilty Sept. 10 to burglary. The charge was brought when Gilbreath was caught hiding inside the Rocky Boy Health Board building at about 1:30 a.m. on July 1. He was allegedly using the boards computers to log onto an Internet pornography site.
