In Class C basketball action on Thursday night Geraldine nipped KG, 36-34.
Both teams played to a 6-6 tie after one, with the Tigers taking a 15-14 halftime lead.
Both teams scored 13 in the third quarter, and Geraldine outscored the KouGars, again by one point, in the fourth to come away with the win.
Kim Berg led the way for KG with 10 points.
Rocky Boy slipped past Harlem 84-49 on Thursday night.
The Wildcats jumped out big, as they took a 26-12 lead after one. It was more of the same in the second, as Harlem took a 46-27 halftime lead. The Wildcats cruised through the second half to the win.
Rose Crebs led the way for the Morning Stars with 22 points.
Also on Thursday night it was Brady over J-I, 41-34.
Brady turned up the defense in the first quarter, and led 8-2 after one. The Rams battled back in the second, and cut the Bulldogs lead to four, 17-13. J-I had a slight scoring edge in the third, but it was not enough to come back as Brady held on in the fourth.
For the Rams, it was Angela Peek nailing 18 points.
In a key match-up in 9-C, it was Blue Sky edging Box Elder, 48-45.
The Eagles came out soaring, and took a 12-7 lead after one. The Bears clawed their way back into the game in the second, and cut the Blue Sky lead down to 20-18 at the half. Box Elder took the lead after three, at 36-34, but the Eagles outscored the Bears 14-9 in the fourth to capture the win.
Cassidy Han had 16 points to lead Blue Sky, while Box Elder was led by Sommer Rosette who had 14.
Blue Sky head coach Darrin Hannum said it was a good game for his team. Hannum set it sets them up nicely for the 9-C tournament (held Nov. 11-13 at Havre). Hannum said the two teams played well at times, but other times the play was sloppy.
It came down to a lot of effort at the end of the game, Hannum said.
There is just one weekend left in 9-C play, and the Eagles will face Rocky Boy. The game will most likely be a pre-match of a 9-C District tournament first-round game.
No. 1 Big Sandy drilled Rocky Boy 89-33 on Friday night.
The Pioneers took a commanding lead from the start, and led 29-6 after one. Midway, Big Sandy had built a 45-14 lead. It was academic in the second half, as the Pioneers rolled to the win.
The Pioneers were led by Sasha Ritter who had 22 points. The Morning Stars were led in scoring by Crebs who had 14.
Chester slipped past KG 44-33 on Friday night.
The Coyotes were on top by a score of 10-9 after one quarter of play. Chester got things done in the second quarter, as they built a 24-15 halftime lead. The game was almost even in the second half, with Chester holding on for the win.
Jen Siefert led the KouGars in scoring with 12 points, while the Coyotes were led by Emily Tranbergs 10 points.
On Saturday night, Chester ripped through Blue Sky, 77-43.
The Coyotes jumped out to a 26-8 lead after one. Chester pushed its lead to 46-22 at the half. Both teams scored 12 points in the third, but the Coyotes outscored the Eagles 19-9 in the fourth.
Michelle Van Dyke had 19 points to lead Chester. The Eagles were led by Han who had 10 points.
Big Sandy broke the century mark as it demolished Hays-Lodgepole 110-30 on Saturday.
The Pioneers defense held the Thunderbirds to just two first-quarter points. By the half, Big Sandy had a 65-13 lead. It was more of the same in the second half as Big Sandy won.
Katherine Bitz led five Big Sandy players in double figures with 18. The T-Birds were led by Ray-lyn Shambo who had 10 points.
