LOIS VANDEBERG ERICKSON

Lois Vandeberg Erickson, 76, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at a local hospital of natural causes.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel. Vigil services will be held 7 p.m. Friday at the St. Jude Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Robert D. Grosch officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery.

Erickson was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Havre, to Leonard and Lena (Bundus) Vandeberg. She attended schools at St. Jude and Havre High School. She worked at the Sacred Heart Hospital kitchen and laundry, and the Havre Laundry. She began working with Buttrey Foods in the meat locker plant in 1940. She later became Manager of the Processing Plant in Havre. She was employed there until her retirement in 1977.

In 1974, she married Edwin Erickson in Missoula. The couple resided in Havre.

She enjoyed fishing, camping at Tiber Reservoir, entertaining her family and friends, and cooking. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the St. Jude Parish. She was the Director of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Hill County from 1977 to 1988 when she retired.

Erickson was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, two brothers, Walter and Alfred Vandeberg, and a sister, Alice Bunton.

Survivors include a son, Steve Vandeberg of Plainfield, N.J.; a stepson, Don Erickson of Elkgrove, Calif.; brothers, Don Vandeberg of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Elvin Vandeberg of Tacoma, Wash.; sisters, Mary Ann Ness of Kalispell, Vivian Sullins of Jackson, Miss., Charlotte Hertsgaard of Havre, Rosella Gonder of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Sharon Bennett of Coeur dAlene, Idaho, and Shirley Nelson of Bellevue, Wash.; three step-granddaughters, a step-grandson, and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude School Alumni Association, the Havre Senior Center, or to the donors choice.
