GENEVIEVE "NONI" WIER
Genevieve Alice Wier (Muller), 71, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at a Havre care center of a brain tumor.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Chinook.
Wier was born Aug. 31, 1928, to Frank and Genevieve Muller in Anaconda. She graduated from Holy Rosary in Bozeman and received a registered nursing degree from Columbus School of Nursing in Great Falls.
In 1951, she married Jay Larkin Sulser from Great Falls. He died in 1965.
After the death of her husband she continued nursing at the Sacred Heart Hospital of Havre and in private practice for Dr. J.J. Wier, whom she married in 1979. The couple resided in Havre and Mesa, Ariz., and owned a cabin in the Bear Paw Mountains south of Chinook.
Wier was very active in her church, was president of the Apache Wells Beautification Committee in Arizona, and was a volunteer for the Saint Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen. She enjoyed arts and crafts, reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, and a brother, Frances Muller.
Survivors include daughters, Sydney Flint of Milan, N.H., and LuAnn Burkhartsmeyer of Chinook; sons, Jay Sulser of Billings and Kevin Sulser of Lennup; sisters, Joan Johnson of Ridgefield, Wash., Bonnie Lorenz of The Dalles, Ore., and Michelle Kogelschatz of Pismo Beach, Calif.; brothers, Regis Muller of Tigard, Ore., and Pat and Greg Muller of Portland, Ore.; step-children, Kay Wilson of Nebraska, Jerry Wier of Havre and Robin Wier of Choteau; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to St. Gabriel's Church in Chinook, St. Jude's Catholic Church in Havre or to the Catholic Church in Rocky Boy.
Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is in charge of arrangements.
