MYRTLE OLDENBURG
Myrtle I. Oldenburg, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at a local hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the First Lutheran Church in Havre with the Rev. Dorothy Nielsen officiating, interment will be at a later date in Kalispell. Remains are being cremated.
Oldenburg was born July 4, 1916, to William and Josephine Hughes in Bloomfield. She was raised in Peerless and graduated from local schools there.
She married Ernest Long. The couple later separated.
On May 19, 1951, she married Hans Oldenburg. The couple resided in Richey where he worked as a butcher and she as a homemaker. They later moved to Wolf Point and lived there until 1965. The couple later owned and operated the local taxi company and cafe and he continued to work as a butcher. In 1965, they moved to Kalispell where they ran a small rest home for many years.
She moved to Havre upon his death in 1980, where she retired near her daughter.
She enjoyed being a mother and housewife, along with gardening, playing cards, dancing and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her husband, and two children, a son, Ernest Dean Long and step-daughter, Beverly Oldenburg.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Stolen of Havre; step-daughter, Elizabeth Suchy; step-sons, Earl Oldenburg, Kalvin Oldenburg and Hans Oldenburg; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; and three nephews.
