HPS honors quarter employees at meeting

The Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees recognized the district's employees of the quarter during its meeting Tuesday night.

JoAnn Hergesheimer, assistant cook at Havre High School, received a commendation as school food service Employee of the Quarter. Hergesheimer has been with the district for 25 years. She worked one year as a substitute and was hired the next as a Helper.

Hergesheimer said she enjoys working around teen-agers because "they can be a lot of fun" and "keep you young and on your toes."

Her supervisor, Betty Holden, said Hergesheimer wears a lot of hats in the school cafeteria, serving as assistant cook, assistant cashier, and Helper.

Hergesheimer and her husband, Charles, have three children and six grandchildren with another grandchild due in March.

Vicki Kutzler is the fall quarter teacher assistant Employee of the Quarter. Kutzler, a special education teacher assistant at Havre Middle School, has been with the district 2 years.

Kutzler came to Havre Public Schools from North Middle School in Great Falls when her husband, Elmer, a railroad supervisor, transferred to Havre.

She said she is glad for the opportunity to work with the students and staff at HMS, and that they have all been very enjoyable to work with.

Valerie Wolf is transportation Employee of the Quarter. Besides driving bus for the past 16 years, Wolf works for the food service at Havre Middle School. She has operated the ala carte line at the school since it opened.

She said she enjoys working with the kids and talking to them about what they did in school.

She and her husband, Dave, have been married for 28 years. They have two grown sons, Russ in Helena and Bobby in Havre.

Rose Cloninger, head custodian at Havre High, is custodial/maintenance Employee of the Quarter. She has three grown sons -- Sean, Jason and Randy -- and has been with the district four years.

Cloninger said she really loves her job at HPS because she can help such a variety of people from teachers to parents to kids. Just the smiles on their faces mean everything to her when she finds a lost object, opens a door or locker, of fixes a problem.

Cloninger is engaged to Lowell Alcock.

Vicke Larson is the clerical Employee of the Quarter. Now personnel assistance and office manager at Robins Administrative Building, Larson has served the district in a numerous capacities during her 12 years on the job.

Besides her varied duties with the district, Larson is heavily involved with the American Red Cross at the state and local levels.

Larson is the mother of two sons, Scott in Missoula and Derrek, an electronics major at North Dakota School of Science.
