Area Class C tennis teams were in Great Falls this weekend for a tournament.
Chesters April Stubbs continued her dominance as she won the meet, beating Melissa Graf from Fairfield 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-0.
In the No. 2 single tournament it was Teresa Muncey from Chester taking fourth place with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Jolene Miller of Fort Benton.
Kali Nelson took second place in the No. 3 singles bracket as she fell in the championship to Marcela Nemcova 8-3.
In doubles action for the Coyotes the team of Devan Lalum and Nicole Anderson took second place as the lost the championship game to Amy Lewis and Angie Lewis from Boulder 6-3, 6-2.
The team of Kali Wicks and Lisa Wickum took fourth in the No. 1 doubles tournament.
The Chester No. 2 doubles team of Kendra Matkin and Amanda Kolstad took second to the Boulder team of Carie Ford and Erica Miller 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
Earlier in the week the Coyotes played Conrad on Monday.
In singles play it was Stubbs winning 8-5. Sunni Spicher lost 3-8 and 5-8. Muncey lost 5-8. Nelson fell 3-8 and 2-8 and 0-4. Kari Hawks lost her first match 1-8 and won her second match 8-1. Kendra Matkin won 8-4. Kayla Matkin lost 1-8 and 2-8. Megann Sheppard lost both of her matches 0-8, 5-8. Janna Hutala lost her matches 2-8, 3-8.
In doubles against Conrad, Chesters Nicole Anderson and Devan Lalum lost their match in a tie break. Kali Wicks and Lisa Wickum lost in a tie break in their first match but came back in their second match to win 8-6. The team of Kendra Matkin and Kolstad won their doubles match 8-3.
On Wednesday the Coyotes took on Fort Benton and won all but five matches. Stubbs won her matches 8-2 and 6-0. Spicher won 8-4 and 6-4. Muncey split in her matches, winning the first 8-7 (7-3), but losing the second match 0-6. Nelson won both of her matches 8-6 and 8-1. Ka. Matkin won her two matches 6-3, 6-1. Hutala played just one match and lost 0-6. Hawks beat both of her opponents, winning 6-2 and 6-0. Sheppard lost in both of her matches 2-6 and 3-6.
In doubles play against the Longhorns it was Anderson and Lalum picking up two wins, 8-1 and 8-4. Wickum and Wicks also won their match 8-3. Ke. Matkin and Kolstad lost their first match 5-7 but came back to win the second 6-0. Finally the team of Hutala and Sheppard won 6-5 (7-3).
Chester coach Bruce Cook said he was very happy with how his team played all week. He said Stubbs got a wake up call on Saturday when she fell behind 0-3 in her first match but then came back and played some very good tennis.
In doubles on Saturday Cook said Anderson and Lalum played to the best of their abilities and just played a very tough team.
After the Conrad dual Cook said his team was very fired up to play good tennis after losing matches to Conrad. Cook said they came out on Wednesday and redeemed themselves and played tough against Fort Benton.
With the way the Coyotes played this weekend Cook said it gives them a lot of confidence and some great experience going into the divisional meet this weekend.
Big Sandy played Chinook earlier in the week but scores and stats were not made available.
Both Big Sandy and Chester will join Fort Benton and Chinook this weekend in Havre for the divisional meet.
