Its time to take the heat or get out of the kitchen as the Chinook track team sets its sights towards state this weekend at the North-East B Divisional track meet in Glasgow.
The Beeters do have the fortune of knowing the track after running on it several times during the regular season and then again last weekend for the 2B district meet.
Chinook has 13 athletes qualified for the meet with some experience. Lindsey Buhmann, Caroline Moores, Maren Olsen and Erin Acra all qualified and competed last year at the state meet, and with the exception of Olsen, who is out with an injury, will be looking to get back to state this weekend.
On the boys side, even though they have no athletes who went to state last year still on the team, the Sugarbeeters do have some good opportunities. Mason Roseberry has been running well all year and placed high at the district meet and will be looking to move on. Mike Maddox is another athlete for Chinook who could qualify for the state meet.
Chinook coach Don Olsen said his athletes are excited for the meet and know they have their work cut out.
Were looking forward to the challenge and opportunity to be able to qualify and make it to Helena, Olsen said.
Olsen said it should be a great track meet. Olsen said he feels the North-East divisional will be one of the toughest in the state. With some tremendous athletes in the division, the Beeters are in for a tough divisional meet.
If you can get out, you can do good at state. It has been that way, and it is no different this year, Olsen said.
