Beeters advance to state track and field

GLASGOW The Chinook track team was back in Glasgow this weekend for the North-East Class B Divisional meet. The top six finishers in every event move on to state. The team titles went to Glasgow on the boys side and Malta on the girls side.

On the boys side for the Sugarbeeters Mason Roseberry was the only individual athlete to qualify for state. Roseberry qualified in the 800 meter by taking fourth place with a time of two minutes 8.93 seconds. Also the boys 1600 relay team qualified by finishing fourth with a time of 3:40.09.

Erin Acra turned in the highest finish for Chinook as she took second in the 3200 with a mark of 12:47.03. Acra also took fifth place in the 1600 with a finishing time of 5:49.81. Lindsey Buhmann got her ticket to the state meet by finishing fourth in the 400 with a time of 62.56. The final individual athlete to qualify for the Sugarbeeters was Caroline Moores who finished sixth in the 100 with a 13.03. The girls 1600 relay team also qualified for state by taking fifth with a time of 4:24.34.

Chinook coach Don Olsen was unavailable for comment.

All of these athletes will move on and wrap up the season next weekend at the Class B state track meet in Helena.
