Board OKs two union contracts

By Alan Sorensen

The Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees approved two union contracts during its regular June meeting Monday night.

Superintendent Kirk Miller said this morning that the contracts average about 10 percent pay increases over the next three years.

The Havre Paraprofessional Education Association (HPEA) contract for special education and chapter aides, library assistants, and tutors was previously approved by HPEA members.

The Teamsters contract still requires ratification by teamster members, Miller said. The union represents custodial, maintenance, clerical, bus drivers, mechanics, and food service personnel.

Each of the teamster and HPEA positions carries its own salary description.

Miller said the Teamster vote was expected today.
