Teen-agers figuring to make a big splash in Havre Saturday night can do just that at the Havre City Swimming Pool for just $2.
Montanas Promise of Hill County and the Havre Parks and Recreation Department are co-sponsoring Teen Night from 9-11 p.m. Saturday at the city pool.
The swimming party, including music and tacos, costs $2 per student grades 6-12. All area junior and senior high school-age youngsters are invited to bring their swim suits and have a music and fun filled evening.
Adults are welcome, too, but theyll be staying high and dry because the partys for the kids.
Chaperones are always welcome because we encourage the community to be involved in Teen Nights, Carol Bachini-Wood, a community volunteer with Montanas Promise, said. The city curfew is 10:30 p.m. for kids 13 and under, but officials have told us that as long as the kids are involved in an activity, its all right.
This is the third Teen Night sponsored in part since March by Montanas Promise a coalition of middle school-age kids from throughout the county. The first was a party at Northwinds Athletic Club co-sponsored by Havre Middle School Junior HELPers. The second was a dance at Mat Corner co-sponsored by Junior HELPers and Havre Wrestling Club.
The fee for Saturdays party includes the cost of the tacos catered by Taco Johns Taco Wagon.
I just told Jennifer they can do whatever they want to do, Pool Manager Chris ODonnell said. Were just going to open it up and provide the life guards.
Adults who would like to chaperone future Teen Nights are encouraged to call Hill County Extension Agent Jennifer Wells, adult coordinator for Montanas Promise of Hill County, at 265-5481, ext. 233. They also can call Bachini-Wood at the HELP Office, 265-6206.
