Two men were sentenced and a third man got a new sentence during recent action in 12th Judicial District Court in Havre.
Joseph John Bear, 34, Harlem, was sentenced June 12 to five years in Montana State Prison with credit for 107 days already served.
A district court jury found Bear guilty April 28 of felony assault on a police officer. The charge stemmed from a confrontation at Albertsons when store employees tried to detain Bear for shoplifting two 18-packs of beer at about 10 p.m. on Jan. 28.
Jack Edgar Hampson, 50, Great Falls, was given two 5-year suspended prison sentences to be served concurrently on two drug charges. He was given credit for six days served and told to abide by conditions set down in his presentence investigation.
Hampson pleaded guilty April 26 to three counts of criminal sale of dangerous drugs (methamphetamines). The incidents leading to the charges took place at an apartment in the 500 block of Second Street and two Havre bars in September and October 1997.
Winston Roy Hardy, aka Roy Roberts, 40, Anaconda, was sentenced earlier this month to six years in Montana State Prison with credit for 187 days already served. On June 30, four years of Hardys sentence were suspended and 24 more days were added to his jail-time credit.
Hardy had pleaded guilty April 19 to a charge of burglary that arose from an incident in which Hardy entered a secured area in a Havre hotel on Nov. 29, 1998, and stole about $200 from a cash register. He also was ordered to pay $200 restitution.
