MISSOULA Edwin L. Ted McCrea, 84, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at a Missoula hospital.
A Rosary will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, at OConnors in Great Falls, and a Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Great Falls at 10 a.m. Thursday.
McCrea was born June 10, 1915, in Fort Benton, to Albert and Mable McCrea. He was raised at Eagleton near Big Sandy.
As a young man he was employed for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) at Haugan, building trails, planting trees, and fighting forest fires. He was also employed at the P-N Ranch as a cowhand and was a foreman of the McNamara Ranch out of Big Sandy for 10 years. He later served as Deputy Livestock Inspector for the State of Montana for 23 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a lifetime member and served as a board member of the Montana Cowboys Association.
After his retirement he enjoyed driving the Senior Citizens bus in Great Falls for six years. In 1995 he moved to Missoula to be near his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Pat and Stevie and a sister, Sonoma.
McCrea is survived by his wife June; a brother, Jerry of Great Falls; his children, Bernadette, Kelly and Mary of Seattle, John of Helena, and Dennis and Colleen of Missoula; and six grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Montana Cowboys Association.
