Reber named new manager at bureau

By Ron VandenBoom

Brent C. Reber has been named the new manager of the Credit Bureau of Havre.

Reber took the position effective April 19.

Reber, a 1991 graduate of Concordia College in Morehead, Minn., spent more than seven years with NorWest Financial in Washington, North Dakota, Idaho, and Iowa, before returning to his hometown of Have.

Reber said he enjoyed his time with NorWest and got a lot of valuable experience before deciding to return to Havre.

It was kind of nice to get those different experiences in different markets, Reber said, noting that every market is different.

Credit Bureau of Havre is affiliated with Equifax Credit Information Services and is subject to all of the regulations developed by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

Reber said he is aware that most people have a negative impression of credit bureaus, but explains that our biggest thing is to aid the consumer and to educate the consumer.

If we can help them out and help them find a way to pay their debts off, Reber said, thats the biggest thing we want to get across.

Reber said he does not expect to see a lot of changes at the Bureau. I just want to make sure that we are able to make the public aware of what we do.

The Bureau puts out a monthly booklet of credit news and information to all members for $12 a month and charges $15 a month for full membership in the Bureau.
