Kerr spreads PSM mission around the world

By Alan Sorensen

Rick Kerr is a safety and environmental compliance specialist with a private contractor. His current assignment in Kuwait has led to a nearly full-time avocation as well.

Kerr, who spent the last couple of weeks relocating his wife of 18 years, the former Rozan Weiderrich, and daughters Chrystal, 16, and Theresa, 11, from San Diego to Havre, is also president, preacher, and missionary with Peace Speaker Ministries.

Kerr, who worked at KOJM/KPQX in Havre from 1978 to 1982, established PSM less than a year and a half ago after his arrival in Kuwait.

This ministry just sort of happened because someone came up to us and said, Hey, youre Christians, right? How about you come out to this all-mens compound and share the gospel?

Basically, we saw the need from there and its kind of catapulted from there to the things we just talked about.

Among those things is a PSM branch in Japan that has already been involved in a clothing drive for children in a Nicaragua orphanage.

Theres a gent going to India from Kuwait who will open a branch, a Christian library there, to make it available to ministers there and others.

PSM also is helping Vimukthi Baptist Church in Secunderabad, India with funding in support of a training program for young men and women to take the gospel into the districts of India.

In East Godovari, India, the ministry is planning three church building projects. Kerr is expected to go to the region to investigate the damage a 1996 cyclone did to Emmanuel Lepers Home and several church planting ministries.

According to Kerr, PSM is a non-denominational Christian ministry. We are here to teach about Jesus, and how to achieve a personal relationship with Him, a PSM brochure says.

The ministry includes four other Christians who also serve in multiple capacities, including preachers, missionaries, web designer, graphic designer, administrative assistant, and accountant.

In Kuwait, the ministry offers mentoring and Bible study. The mentoring focuses on helping new Christians in the development of spiritual growth in their personal relationship in Christ, and in the relationship with other believers at Camp Reggae, Kuwait. The Bible course is an interactive course of study in biblical doctrine.

Kerr said that PSM is prayerfully considering more applicants for the Peace Speakers Ministry team throughout the world.

More information about PSM is available by writing to Kerr at P.O. Box 624, Havre MT 59501. His long-distance phone number in Kuwait is 011 (965) 261-1296. He can be e-mailed at PSministry@hotmail.com.

PSM also has a web site at http://gospeltrail.com/PSM.

Kerr will be heading back to Kuwait the first of August and will complete his 18th month there in October.
