Credit where credits due

While editorial topics more often than not lend themselves to the darker side of human nature politics, violence, crime, taxes, etc. sometimes its important to turn around and acknowledge the positive things that influence our lives.

Following the wrap up of the Great Northern Fair, the Havre Daily News has gotten some nice compliments on the coverage provided. Families of 4-Hers are particularly pleased with the photos of the winners of all the competitions. Well, we have to give credit where credit is due. The photos of the 4-Hers and their animals were all taken by Bob Brastrup of the Hill County Extension office. The results were all compiled by Brastrup and his many assistants, then delivered to us on computer disk.

While the crew at the Daily News does its best to be everywhere at all times, we just plain cant. Without the unheralded efforts of Brastrup, all those 4-H award photos wouldnt be possible.

So a heartfelt thanks to Brastrup for helping us share the fair with our readers.

Speaking of positive images and contributions by individuals, the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off their new image campaign this week (see page 17.) The new slogan Havre ... Its the people is intended to focus the citys most precious commodity its residents.

Each month the campaign will take a look at different subjects business, agriculture, education and more. But the main focus will be the people involved.

The quality of life is a marketable value these days, and it only makes sense for Havre to promote the people that make this city a desirable place to live.

There are a lot of heroes out there, both large and small. We hope to share more of them with you in the future.
