Wisconsin-Parkside transfer Matt True joins the Montana State-Northern Lights wrestling team as a walk-on, said coach David Ray.
He did well in high school, Ray said. Hes a three-time Wisconsin state placer.
True, who will wrestle at 165 to 174 pounds, will add some more depth to the practice room for the back-to-back NAIA national champions, Ray said.
As a freshman at Lourdes High School in Oshkosh, Wisc., True held a 21-8 record. As a sophomore, he placed fourth at state after a 24-6 season. Fourth again at state as a junior, True went 26-6. As a senior, he finished second at state and closed out his final season at 29-6.
Redshirting at Wisconsin-Parkside, True went 5-4, winning all his matches by pins.
True will be a business major at Northern. He is the son of Tom True and Gayle Billman.
