MARGARET L. POWERS
Margaret L. Powers, 87, Havre, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at a Havre care center of natural causes.
Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel in Havre with Father Robert Grosch officiating. The funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Havre. Burial will follow the service at the Calvary Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 2, 1912 at Savoy the daughter of Thomas and Nellie (Degendorfer) OLeary. In 1917, the OLearys moved to Minnesota where she attended school. In 1934, they moved back to Savoy where she worked for many of their neighbors.
In later years, she worked for retail stores and also was a seamstress.
On Dec. 1, 1945 at Harlem, she married Robert Powers. They moved to Fort Peck. They later moved to Great Falls. Her husband died Dec. 6, 1958.
She then moved to Harlem and later to Havre.
She enjoyed bingo, her sewing, playing cards, visiting with family and her many friends. She was a member of the Harlem VFW Auxiliary and St. Jude Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and numerous brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a brother, John OLeary and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials in her memory may be made to the Gift of Life in Great Falls or to a persons choice.
Service and arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
