SIMMS The Chinook girls basketball team took the long bus trip to Simms to take on the Tigers Saturday and came home with a 58-42 win.
The Sugarbeeters took a 16-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. Simms rallied in the second quarter, though, to pull within one point at halftime with Chinook up 25-24.
Chinook came out of the locker room fired up and held the Tigers to just four points, extending their lead to 37-28. It was more of the Beeters in the final stanza as Chinook outscored Simms 21-14 to get the win.
The Beeters had three players in double figures as Katie Hoffman, Renda Birky, and Amanda Schoen each tallied 10 points in a well-balanced scoring attack.
The game was the only one for Chinook this weekend. The win moves the Beeters to 2-1 overall on the season.
Chinook head coach Bill Keller was unavailable for comment.
The Beeters have two games this weekend as they host District 2B foe Malta on Friday night and then travel to take on the Wildcats of Harlem Saturday evening.
