Lady Pioneers stand alone at top of 9-C

Big Sandy scored 105 points Saturday in District 9-C basketball action, putting five girls in double figures.

The Lady Pioneers stand atop the Class C Associated Press power poll, receiving five first-place votes.

Only once, in its second game of the year, has Big Sandy scored fewer than 75 points in a game.

The Lady Pioneers, 8-0 overall, are No. 1 in the 9-C and they stand alone.

The KG KouGars, 6-1 overall, fell to the District 10-C Chester Coyotes last weekend and are second in the district.

Big Sandy and Chester do not meet during the regular season.

The defending state Class C champion Box Elder Bears are the only other team in the league with a winning record at 5-4.

Big Sandy will meet KG at home Friday to face off against its toughest district competition.
