Chester enacted a little revenge against Belt Friday night after the Coyotes girls basketball team was upset Thursday evening by the Huskies. The Coyotes football team got the job done with a 52-6 pounding of Belt.
The Coyotes scored twice in the first quarter as Brian Schlepp and Jeff Graham hooked up twice for 10-yard touchdown scores.
Belt scored its only touchdown in the second quarter, but the Coyotes responded with two of their own as Graham ran the ball in from a yard out. The second score came as Sean Weinert caught a 31-yard Graham pass. At halftime it was Chester on top 28-6.
In the fourth, Weinert got back in the action as he caught a 28-yard pass. Graham knocked through a 22-yard field goal. The Coyotes final touchdown was a 25-yard run by Levi Johnson.
Big Sandy moved to .500 on the season as it took out Valier Friday night, 31-6.
Mace Mangold caught a 19-yard Aaron Meyers pass for the first and only score in the first quarter. In the second, the Pioneers scored first as Daniel Weaver caught a five-yard pass from Meyers. The Panthers only score also came in the second quarter. At the half Big Sandy led 15-6 on its way to victory.
In six-man action Saturday afternoon, the Geraldine Tigers pounced on J-I 75-32.
Geraldine opened the game big and put 28 points up on the board in the first quarter and held the Rams scoreless. J-Is first touchdown came in the second quarter as Curtis May caught a 29-yard Jeremiah Johnson pass for the score. At the half Geraldine was up 44-6.
Augusta blasted through Rocky Boy Saturday, 53-7.
The Stars only touchdown came in the second quarter as Bobby Caplette returned an Elks kickoff 60 yards for the score.
The game ended in the third quarter on the 45-point rule.
No. 1 ranked Centerville blanked Hays-Lodgepole on Saturday, 50-0.
The Miners scored 36 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second to end the game at halftime on the 45-point rule.
Box Elder got past Sunburst on Saturday 46-12.
The Bears scored one in the first quarter as Wade Colliflower ran the ball in from a yard out. The Refiners answered in the second and tied the game at 6-6 at halftime.
In the third, Box Elder scored twice as Aaron Wood had four yard touchdown run and Brandon Gohper had a six yard run that found the end zone.
Box Elder put its mark on the fourth as it scored four times. Gopher scored three times on two runs of six yards and one for 16 yards. Colliflower scored the other touchdown for the Bears in the fourth as rushed the ball in from two yards away.
Gopher finished the game with 40 carries for 265 yards and 15 tackles on the defensive side of the ball.
Box Elder head coach Dave Nelson said his team played an excellent second half of football. Nelson said he was very pleased with how Gopher and Colliflower played in the game.
The Bears square off Thursday against Valier. Nelson said he hopes they can carry their second-half performance from last weekend into the game with the Panthers.
The Blue Sky Eagles were schedule to play Geyser in a six-man football game Saturday, but Geyser forfeited the game.
