The KG cross country team finally did this weekend what it has been trying to do for the past three weeks beat Browning.
The KouGars came in first at the Havre Invitational. Browning finished second. This is the first time this season the KouGars have been able to beat the Indians.
KGs Aaron Smith finished second with a time of 16:16.44. In fourth place was Eric Hanson, who crossed the finish line in a time of 16:37.87. Justin Antonich finished the race in sixth place with a mark of 17:09.99. In ninth place was KGs Deven Donovan with a finishing time of 17:35.46. Virgil Stewart was right on his heels, as he finished in 10th place with a time of 17:36.86.
Also in the race for the KouGars were Joey Fallo, who finished in a time of 19:35.41, which was good enough for 45th. Thomas Marshall finshed in 54th place with a mark of 20:08.09.
The KouGars have just one more weekend before they head to Helena to defend their state title and try to make it four in a row for the school.
KG head coach Paul Andersen said last weekend that they would need to move up their fifth place runner, and that is what the KouGars did. Last weekend, their fifth place runner was over 18:00. This weekend none of the top five were over that mark.
The KouGars final regular season meet will be Wednesday as they run in the Wildcat Invitational in Harlem.
