SELLA (SALLY) PRATER
BIG SANDY Sella (Sally) A. Prater, 97, a resident of Big Sandy, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at a Big Sandy medical center of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Christ Lutheran Church in Big Sandy with the Rev. Rich Jespersen officiating. Burial will follow at the Big Sandy Cemetery.
Prater was born Aug. 10, 1902, in Reynolds, N.D., to Brent and Ella (Erickson) Ellingson. She attended schools and was educated near Reynolds, N.D. In 1922, she graduated from Normal College at Grand Forks, N.D. After her graduation she moved to Big Sandy and was employed as a fourth grade teacher.
On June 21, 1935, she married Ralph Prater at Havre. The couple resided in Big Sandy. She retired from teaching in 1943. She was employed for Ben Oliver at his grocery store while her husband was in WWII. She moved to the Big Sandy Medical Center and Nursing Home in 1986. He died in 1989.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing bridge and pinochle. She was a member of The Bear Paw Chapter #100 Order of Eastern Star, Pioneer Bridge Club, life member of the Big Sandy V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Christ Lutheran Church, all of Big Sandy.
Prater was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Bernie Ellingson of Big Sandy; a grandson and a nephew.
Memorials are suggested to the Big Sandy Medical Center, The Christ Lutheran Church or to the donors choice.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre.
