HARVEY BAILEY

CLANCY Harvey D. Bailey, 75, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at his residence of natural causes.

Memorial services have been held at Hagler Anderson Mortuary with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Helena.

Bailey was born March 24, 1924, in Great Falls, to Harvey and Raechel (Locke) Bailey. Following the death of his mother during his birth, he was raised by his father and Mary (Sohm) Bailey. He grew up and attended schools in Great Falls, Kremlin, Havre and Livingston. He worked as a fireman and oiler for the Northern Pacific Railroad before becoming a long haul truck driver.

He drove for Lundy Wholesale and Bob Lee Trucking. In 1965, he began working for Associated Food Stores Inc. He retired in 1988. He logged almost 2 million accident free miles during his career with A.F.S.

On March 7, 1952, he married Helen Jolly in Lewistown. The couple later divorced.

On Oct. 29, 1964, he married Sylvia in St. Anthony, Idaho. The couple moved to Helena in 1965, where they resided until 1974, when they moved to Clancy.

He enjoyed the outdoors, using his metal detector to explore ghost towns throughout Montana, panning old, fishing, reading and watching westerns or science fiction movies on TV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Gerald.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; a son, Rae of Tacoma, Wash.; daughters, Penny Jacobson, of Great Falls, Debbie Hust of Absarokee, Denise Kunst of Littleton, Colo., and Renee Bailey of Puyallup, Wash.; a sister, Audrey Rome of Seattle; five grandchildren, one great-grandson; and a large extended family.

Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association at 825 Helena Ave., Helena, MT 59601.
