The Havre City Council will gather for its biweekly meeting tonight at city hall to vote on the citys final budget and to set the annual tax levies for the next fiscal year.
City Clerk and Recorder Lowell Swenson said the citys budget will increase this year to $9,817,730. He said its the same budget that the city tentatively approved earlier this year.
We just had to wait until we got our taxable valuations in, Swenson said. We have the budget here.
Swenson said the budget has been available for viewing at city hall since it was passed earlier in the year. He said the budget is up slightly from last year.
A vote will also take place fixing the annual tax levies for the fiscal year, which began on July 1, 1999, and ends June 30, 1999.
For the individual tax payers, the tax levies will be about the same, Swenson said. The tax valuations include some new construction, and weve added an additional amount for that.
Swenson could not immediately say how much more will be added for construction.
It doesnt amount to a lot, he said.
