Havre No. 1 in Central A, surprises flood winners

By Tiffany L. Rehbein

The Havre Blue Ponies girls basketball team (10-3) are No. 1 in the Central A with 37 seeding points.

Havre fell to conference rival Lewistown 49-41 Saturday on the road.

Havres surprising loss coincided with Brownings loss to District 1-B Conrad Friday.

The Indians, who handed Conrad its only loss earlier this season, found themselves on the losing end of the 59-51 battle.

Browning (11-2) lost to Havre 58-47 at the end of September. The two meet Oct. 29 at the Blue Pony Corral.

The Dillon Beavers, who handed the Blue Ponies a 61-47 loss in the season opener, stand third in the division at 10-4 with 33 seeding points, just one point behind Browning.

Saturday, conference foe Belgrade handed Dillon a 55-40 loss.

The Panthers (10-4) have 32 seeding points and are fourth in the division.

The Blue Ponies have not met the Panthers this season.

The Fergus County Golden Eagles (9-5) have won three straight, including a victory over Havre. However, they have just 29 seeding points and are fifth in the division.

Butte Central, Anaconda and Livingston round out the division, and each team has a losing record.

The Blue Ponies downed Anaconda 57-45 earlier this season, but have not met Butte Central or Livingston.
