Cleanliness is next to godliness, but sometimes that old saying can be carried a little too far.
Havre police received a complaint shortly before 8 p.m. Monday that a man was washing sidewalks in the 600 block of Second Street without permission.
An officer arrived on the scene and found the man hosing down the sidewalk. The man reportedly told the officer that God had told him to do it.
The officer then explained to the man that he must first have permission from the owners to use their hose and water. The borrowed water was subsequently turned off, and the borrowed hose was coiled and returned to its owner.
No citations were issued.
