Havre woman helps plan White House millennium celebration

By Alan Sorensen

KLynn Sloan is living a dream, according to her parents, Duaine and Karen Sloan of Havre.

Sloan, a junior in broadcast journalism at the University of Montana in Missoula, moved to Washington, D.C. Oct. 14 to help Hillary Clinton organize Americas Millennium celebration.

As a White House intern, Sloans job will be to help the first lady organize the 3-day century- and millennium-ending New Years gala. Sloan only learned about the appointment eight days before flying east, according to an article by Dana Pickell that appeared in the Montana Kaimin, the UM student newspaper.

Sloans duties also may include helping with a series of C-SPAN television programs called Millennium Evenings.

Sloan, a 1997 Havre High School graduate, was HHS Key Club president and state Key Club secretary in high school and was elected Montana Circle K governor her freshman year at UM.

Sloan will return to Missoula and her studies shortly after the celebration in early January.
