The Bears were on a streak the Lights couldnt stop.
The MSU-Northern Lights football team (1-6, 3-7) fell to the Rocky Mountain College Bears 47-13 in Frontier Conference action Saturday at Herb Klindt Field in Billings.
Nineteenth-ranked Rocky won its sixth-consecutive game in a contest that saw the Bears notch 598 total offensive yards.
Outscored 30-0 at halftime, freshman quarterback Chris Jackson got the Lights on the scoreboard with a five-yard run with :46 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
Against the Bears stunning defense, which tallied 10 quarterback sacks, the Lights managed just 53 rushing yards.
Scott Ramsey-Simon had seven carries for 34 yards to lead the Lights. Todd Clyde had four carries for three yards and Havre native Richard Jarvis had seven carries for 12 yards.
Northern, who had been using two quarterbacks, in Jackson and John Parrish, tallied 231 passing yards.
Jackson went 18-of-34 for 140 yards, including one interception, while Parrish completed 6-of-12 for 91 yards.
Travis Crawford led the Lights receiving with six receptions for 72 yards. Andy Smith, the No. 3 receiver in the conference, had six receptions for 53 yards, and T Artis had five receptions for 33 yards.
Jarvis tallied two catches for 22 yards, JT Schubert had one reception for 19 yards, while Ramsey-Simon had one reception for 14 yards.
Jeff Burt, who scored the only other Lights touchdown with 1:02 remaining in the fourth quarter, had a 14-yarder for the score on a pass from Parrish.
Tight end Dan Yaeger had one reception for eight yards and Clyde had one reception for five yards.
The Lights, who have next weekend off, close out their 1999 season at Havre against Montana Tech on Nov. 13.
Next weekend, Tech and Rocky vie for the conference title at Butte.
