The Chinook Sugarbeeters girls basketball team split its games during the past weekend to finish the regular season.
The Beeters picked up a District 2-B 66-35 win over Poplar on Friday night. On Saturday night, Chinook fell to Fort Benton, 54-46.
On Friday night, the Beeters opened the game with a 24-4 lead after one quarter of play. By the midway point, Chinook had built up a 38-14 lead.
Chinook also got the scoring edge in the third, as it outscored the Indians 13-6. Both teams scored 15 points in the fourth to leave the Beeters with the win.
Renda Birky exploded for a game-high 17 points for the Beeters.
On Saturday night, the Longhorns took a slight 11-10 lead after the first quarter.
Chinook fought back in the second, and was able to take over with a 23-21 lead at halftime.
Fort Benton used the third quarter to outscore the Beeters 15-9 and retake the lead for good. In the fourth, the Longhorns also had the scoring edge at 18-14.
Birky again led the way for Chinook with 13 points.
The Beeters now get ready to head to Wolf Point this weekend for the District 2-B girls basketball tournament.
