Sign up now for holiday assistance from Community Christmas Project

By Alan Sorensen

People in need this Christmas who would like to benefit from the Community Christmas Project are encouraged to sign up for inclusion beginning at once.

Families can benefit from toy, clothing and food drives and may also be adopted out to groups or individuals who will provide nearly all of their holiday needs.

Sign-ups actually got under way on Nov. 1 with applications for assistance being accepted at The Salvation Army Office Nov. 1-5.

Application intake is shorter early in the season, so applicants are encouraged to sign up early.

Applicants must provide the following items at the time of application:

Picture ID (driver's license, state/student ID);

Social Security cards for everyone in the house or birth certificates or medical cards;

Proof of current address (rent receipt, P.U.D. bill);

List of current expenses and incomes.

The next application opportunity is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the North Havre Community Services Food Bank. The Department of Human Services will be taking applications from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday. Applications can be turned in at MSU-Northern Cowan Hall from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Applications will continue on Nov. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Havre-Hill County Library. On Nov. 23 and 30, they can be turned in at the Food Bank.
