In the children's section at the Havre-Hill County Library you will find new books. Carrie Wilson, children's librarian, has displays of both new and holiday books, plus the board books. Come to the library to browse your old favorites and to look at the many new titles.
Books for the young are truly books for all ages. The following list of books are delightful stories with extraordinary illustrations and they are new to the collection. Children of all ages enjoy story time each Wednesday at 10:15 am.
Piggie Pie by Margie Palatini: Gritch the witch flies to Old McDonald's farm for some pigs to make a piggie pie, but when she arrives she can't find a single little porker.
Sammy and the Dinosaur by Ian Whybrow: Sammy find a toy dinosaurs in the attic that come to life when names each one.
The History of Counting by Denise Schmandt-Besserat: Describe the evolution of counting and the many ways to count and write numbers.
Clarice Bean, That's Me by Lauren Child: A girl describes the hectic life she leads among the members of her large family, and her search for a little peace and quiet.
The Night Has Ears: African Proverbs selected and illustrated by Ashley Bryan: A collection of twenty-six proverbs, some serious and some humorous, from a variety of African tribes.
Moosetache by Margie Palatini: A moose's moosetache is too big to control until he meets Ms. Moose, who has her own hair problems. They conquer each other's heart and their hair problems too.
Old Turtle by Douglas Wood watercolor illustrations by Cheng-khee Chee: All of nature argues about the forms of God, so people are sent as a reminder of all that God is, although they do not seem to understand the message themselves. This book received a 1993 Book Award.
