The Eastern A Colstrip Fillies (17-6) downed the Central A Fergus County Golden Eagles (17-7) 59-51 in the State Class A championship game to bring home the No. 1 trophy Saturday at the Butte Civic Center.
Senior Micah Allen of Colstrip led all scorers with 20 points, including four 3-pointers in the win.
Senior Rae Dawn Lei of Colstrip went 5-for-7 from the field and tallied 14 points in the win. She had three of the team's 10 3-pointers in the game, and grabbed six rebounds.
Senior Jacqui Coryell also notched double figures with 14 points in the win.
Lewistown was led by senior Jamie Slagel who scored 17 points in the loss, while senior power Cassie Chapman added 11 in the effort.
Senior Amanda Bakkedahl had 11 points, including 3 treys in the game.
Colstrip entered the tournament in the No. 2 seed from the Eastern Division.
The Fillies opened the tournament with a 54-28 romp over Western's second-seed Polson Pirates (16-8). In semifinal action Friday, Colstrip defeated Eastern third-seed Dawson County Red Devils (16-8) 45-29 to advance to the championship game.
Lewistown, the third seed from the Central Division, opened the tournament with a 67-47 upset over the No. 1 western seed Libby Loggers (19-3).
In semifinal action, Lewistown pulled an even bigger upset with a 55-44 win over the defending state champion Custer County Cowgirls (22-1), handing them their first loss in 41 games.
Miles City opened the tournament with a 77-41 win over the Central A Browning Indians (16-8), who entered the tournament in the second seed.
After losing to Lewistown Friday, the Cowgirls defeated the Havre Blue Ponies (17-7) 57-37 Saturday morning, and, again, downed Browning 60-39, to claim the third place trophy Saturday night. Browning finished fourth at the tournament.
Browning knocked Libby and Glendive from the tournament with 64-44 and 44-32 wins Friday and Saturday.
Havre knocked Polson from the tournament Friday with a 47-35 win.
