HARLEM -- Woodrow "Woody" Ekegren, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at a Bozeman hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Harlem First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Harlem Cemetery.
Ekegren was born Nov. 9, 1914, to Ernest P. and Hannah (Sandquist) Ekegren. He graduated from Harlem High School and attended Northern Montana College. He worked on the power line from Great Falls to Fort Peck and at the Snake Butte Quarry until its closure.
On May 19, 1939, he married Ruth Cronk at the Cronk Ranch near Savoy. He worked for Bill Churchill in a grocery store and later for the E.P. Ekegren John Deere Implement Company in Harlem. In 1942, the couple moved to a farm east of Harlem and lived there for 55 years.
Along with farming Edegren worked at Tubbs Oil Company and was ditchrider for the Harlem Irrigation District for 15 years. The last three years he has lived with his daughter in Bozeman.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996, five brothers and a sister.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Williams of Bozeman; sons, Woody Ekegren of Belgrade and Stan Ekegren of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Elaine Norberg of Harlem; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church, the Harlem Senior Center or to the donor's choice.
Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
