GEORGE ALLERY

CHINOOK -- George Joe Allery, 70, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at his residence in Chinook.

Vigil and Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Malta. Burial followed at the Allery Family Cemetery on the family ranch north of Malta with military honors performed by the Montana National Guard and V.F.W. Post 4067 of Malta.

Allery was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Malta, to Alfred and Agnes (LaSante) Allery. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951, serving in the Korean Conflict. He received the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars and the United Nations Service Medal.

Allery enjoyed hunting elk, big horn sheep, deer, antelope, game birds and other wild game. He also enjoyed all sports, playing minor league baseball for a team in Canada as a pitcher when he was younger. In his younger days he rodeoed, participating in bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding events. He also enjoyed horse racing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Shane Allery, and two brothers, Louis and John Allery.

Survivors include sons, George J. Allery of Havre and Wesley Allery of Deer Lodge; a daughter, Loretta Quint Messerly of Belle Fourche, S.D.; a brother, Fred "Sonny" Allery Jr., of Whitewater; sisters, Marlene Doney of Whitewater and Alfreda White of Hinsdale; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
