Christmas Teen night canceled, Millennium Dance planned instead

By Alan Sorensen

The bad news is: The Christmas Teen Night dance for middle school-age students that was scheduled for the Mat Corner on Dec. 18 has been canceled.

The good news is: A Millennium Dance is scheduled for the same night at Havre Middle School.

The middle school dance will run from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, with deejay Brian Jenkins providing music. The dance is open to area sixth- through eighth-graders.

"We're just going to be celebrating the year 2000," said advisor Cathy Bradbury.

The cost for the dance is $2 per student at the door. Once they're in, she said, the students won't be allowed to leave and come back.

Montana Promise of Hill County had scheduled the night for sixth- through eighth-grade students as part of a two-night pre-holiday party package.

The first half of that package, Montana Promise Holiday Night for high schoolers set for Friday, Dec. 17, is still a go.

The high school party will include a variety of fun and games in the MSU-Northern SUB basement. Participants will have access to bowling, pool, Foosball, Ping-Pong and other games in the university game room from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Admission for the high school event is $1.50 or $1 plus a can of food per student. "Or they can bring a bag of candy or cookies," one of the organizers said.

Adults who would like to help chaperone the Montana Promise Holiday Night activity are encouraged to call Carol Bachini-Wood at 265-6206 or 265-2354.
