Seven people appeared in 12th Judicial District Court recently for sentencing or entering guilty pleas.
Jon Scott Stimson, 35, Havre, was sentenced Dec. 9 to five years in prison with all but 12 months suspended and fined $1,000 for felony driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). On misdemeanor driving while his license was revoked, Stimson was sentenced to 10 days in jail to run concurrent with the other sentence and sentences in other jurisdictions. For speeding, he was fined $10. Stimson pleaded guilty to the fifth offense charge of DUI and the two misdemeanors on Nov. 29.
Kim Allen Norquay Sr., 41, Fort Belknap, pleaded guilty earlier this month to jumping bail on a felony assault charge. Sentencing was set for Jan. 25 at 1:30 p.m.
Torrie J. Teske, 22, Havre, admitted on Dec. 10 to violating five conditions of her release. She admitted possessing marijuana on two occasions, theft, forgery and failing to maintain employment or attend school. Her 3-year deferred imposition of sentence on an Oct. 19 guilty plea to a felony bad check was reinstated. The felony charge involved checks written between Nov. 17, 1997 and June 29, 1998. Teske was ordered to not more than six months in a prerelease center. She was ordered to get her GED.
James David Hayward, 25, Havre, admitted to being a sex offender and not reporting to local authorities. He also admitted that he didn't report to his probation officer. Disposition of his case was set for 9 a.m. Jan. 12, 2000.
William Joe Skidmore, 18, Havre, was sentenced to five years in prison with a recommendation that he be accepted into Boot Camp. Skidmore admitted earlier this month to violating his court-ordered curfew and failing to register as a violent offender. He also admitted consuming alcohol and possessing marijuana in violation of his conditions of release.
Skidmore had been given a 3-year deferred imposition of sentence for a felony assault charge he pleaded guilty to in September. Skidmore's charges stemmed from an incident involving a garden rake in the 1100 block of Third Street on July 31, 1999.
Christopher Donald Hofman, 18, Havre, was sentenced to a two-deferred imposition of sentence and fined $300 plus a prosecution fee and surcharge. Hofman pleaded guilty Nov. 29 to felony theft for accepting and concealing items he knew to be stolen on Oct. 4. The property included a Snap On toolbox and tools plus other items with a total value of about $3,700.
Kenneth Edward Burch, 41, Havre, pleaded guilty this month to charges of sexual intercourse without consent, criminal sale of dangerous drugs, and sexual assault. Judge John Warner ordered a presentencing investigation and set sentencing for March 6, 2000 at 10 a.m. Burch faces a prison sentence of between 4 and 100 years and a fine not to exceed $50,000 plus a $20 prosecution fee and $5 surcharge.c
