CHINOOK The Chinook golf team traveled to Fort Benton on Friday and took sixth place overall with a team score of 378. The Sugarbeeters than took second in Glasgow on Saturday.

In Fort Benton Lucas Paugh shot an 88, Tyler Oehmcke shot a 90, T.J. Murray turned in a 97 while Kyle Doney had a 103. Rounding out the team was Kent Hansen who shot a 106.

In Glasgow Oehmcke won a chip off for third place with an 85. Paugh was tied for fifth with an 88 but lost in a chip off. Murray was tied for ninth with a 90 but also lost in chip off. Hansen shot a 102, Doney finished with a 106.

On the girls side Jessica Kauffman shot a 123 for the lone female Chinook golfer.

Chinook coach Mike Seymour said he is extremely proud for some of the players to break into the top 10 in the Glasgow meet. Oehmcke, Paugh, and Murray have all stepped up and solidified their spot on the team that will go to state, he said. The Sugarbeeters have only one varsity meet left this weekend which they will host and then have a dual a week from Monday with Havre.

Seymour said Doney, Hansen, George Metzger, Jake Yates and Edward Cureth still all have a shot at rounding out the state team and with just two spots left they will battle it out until the end.

Three golfers have stepped up and done some good things but we are still looking for the fourth and fifth golfers, Seymour said.

With the Chinook course in great shape, Seymour said it should be a good weekend of golf.
