GERALD STAPLES

Gerald Joe Staples, 83, of Kamloops, BC, Canada, died Friday, April 16, 1999, due to complications of a massive stroke.

Cremation and Memorial services took place at an earlier date at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, in Kamloops, BC, Canada.

Staples was born March 24, 1916, north of Havre.

In 1942, he married Anne Gomke. The couple farmed and ranched north of Havre and Stevensville until moving to Enderby, BC, Canda in 1960, and then to Kamloops in 1970.

In the mid 1970s he met and married his second wife, Ruth. He was employed as a farmer/rancher, a seniors home owner/operator, janitor, bartender. He also was employed with the handicapped and mentally disabled children at Tranquille in Kamloops, BC.

Staples was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall. He enjoyed gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roy Staples, a sister, Esther Peterson, and his second wife Ruth Staples.

Survivors include a daughter, Penny Covey of Calgary, Alberta; sons, Byron Staples of Abbottsford, BC, and Allan Staples of Kamloops, BC; brothers, Jack Staples of Kalispell, and James Staples of Butte; a sister, Ethel McSloy of Havre; 12 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
