Lisa Handley has been chosen as the MSU-Northern Skylights head volleyball coach, college officials said Thursday.
Shes going to be terrific, said Ted Spatkowski, athletic director at the college. She has an obvious love for the game.
Handley comes most recently from Rocky Mountain College in Billings where she was the assistant volleyball coach and strength and conditioning coach.
Handleys enthusiasm and her desire to be in Havre most set her apart in the mind of the hiring committee, Spatkowski said.
The volleyball program has gone through three coaches during the past four years. In the search for a head coach, continuity was foremost in many minds.
She brings stability, knowledge and enthusiasm, Spatkowski said. She wants to stay here, this is not a stepping stone for her. She wants to be at Northern.
Handley is currently rafting and tubing in Minnesota and she was described as thrilled when she was informed of the decision to hire.
The Handleys have two young children and will return to Havre briefly July 1, before moving to stay later in the month.
