Bear Paw Credit Union has released information about yet another telephone scam designed to separate Montanans from their money.
According to a scam alert issued by the credit union, there are people operating in Montana who claim to be from Credit Mart and representatives for VISA credit cards. The perpetrators of the scam use a return telephone number of 1-888-333-2348 and ask for the victims account number.
Two incidents involving members of Bear Paw Credit Union have been reported, BPCU President Al Vukasin said, but neither member divulged his account number.
Vukasin said nearly all credit unions in the state have been alerted and everyone is discouraged from speaking with the callers.
Do not divulge any information to them, the scam alert says. Hang up!! This is a scam!!
People are asked to contact the credit unions VISA coordinator at (406) 265-9626 if they are contacted by anyone from Credit Mart.
