Katherine M. Elliott, 68, a long time former resident of Havre, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, in Whitefish, following a battle with cancer.

Vigil services will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Judes Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Judes Church. Refreshments will be served in the Parish Hall following services for friends and family. A private graveside interment of the ashes will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Elliott was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Harlowton, to Steven and Alice Kotan. She attended schools there and earned a degree in medical technology in Minneapolis, Minn. She was employed at Deaconess Hospital.

In 1952, she married Dr. James E. Elliott. The couple moved to Oregon where he completed his medical education and training. The couple resided in Havre for 38 years, until retiring to Whitefish in June of 1998.

She was involved in many community activities. She was a member of the St. Judes Catholic Church, the Havre Hill County Library Board, PEO, member and officer of the Montana Medical Association Auxiliary, former member of the Havre Hill County Zoning Commission, St. Charles Catholic Church in Whitefish, Northern Montana Healthcare Corporate Membership Board and former president of the Havre High School Booster Club. She enjoyed reading, gardening, holidays and spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Jim, of Whitefish; daughters, Nancy and Janice of Seattle; sons, Ronald of Saline, Mich., James of Billings, Mark of Missoula, and Scott of Burlington, Wash.; brothers, Joseph Kotan of Salt Lake City and William Kotan of Helena; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Havre Hill County Library, St. Judes School, or to the Hospice of Kalispell.
