BUTTE John A. Gardiner, 86, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at a Butte care center.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday in the Duggan Dolan Chapel in Butte. Interment of ashes will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery in Havre.
Gardiner was born July 18, 1913, in Butte, to Edward B. and Lil Gardiner. He spent his teen years in Butte and moved to Havre in 1929. He moved back to Butte in 1966.
On Jan. 29, 1934, he married Mamie Davidson in Havre. He was employed by the Great Northern Railway and was a lifetime member of the Ham Radio Operators.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1982, and a daughter Elaine Winchell in 1987.
Survivors include sons, Jack of Great Falls, Stanley of Havre, and Edward of Butte; care taker, Dorothy Cleator of Butte; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
